The four sites that make up the Char Dham are:

- Gangotri: Situated on the banks of the Bhagirathi River, Gangotri is the origin of the River Ganga (also known as the Ganges). The main temple is dedicated to Goddess Ganga.
- Kedarnath: Nestled amidst the majestic Kedarnath range, Kedarnath is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and is considered one of the holiest Shiva temples.
- Badrinath: Located in the Chamoli district, Badrinath is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his Badri form. It is one of the 108 Divya Desams, sacred temples revered by the Sri Vaishnavite tradition.
